2013 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
Porsche has released first details and official images of the 2013 911 GT3 Cup at“Night of Champions” event at the brand’s R&D center in Weissach, Germany.The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is based on the seventh generation of the sports car from Zuffenhausen. The 911 GT3 Cup will be priced from €181,200 (US$234,250) excluding VAT and will compete exclusively in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in 2013.
The 2013 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is powered by a 3.8 liter six-cylinder flat engine that generates 460 HP (338 kW) which is 10 HP (7 kW) more than the 997 GT3 RS-based model it replaces, delivered 1,000 rpm lower, at 7,500. It is connected to a six-speed “dog-type” transmission that is operated via steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is equipped with a new race braking system, with 380 mm slotted and inner-vented steel front rotors and front axle with six-piston aluminium fixed callipers and rear axle with a four-piston version. The 2013 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup features a rear wing, a center-mounted dual exhaust system and new set of racing wheels in single-piece wrapped in Michelin racing tires. The 2013 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup also fitted with a “rescue hatch” on the roof which allows the driver to be extracted easier in case of a crash, a digital instrument cluster, a flat bottom steering wheel, a new racing seat, an improved roll cage.
